Mood Swings

Have you ever experience feeling great one minute and suddenly being down the next? These sudden changes in emotion are one of the common symptoms if you are experiencing mental stresses or ill-health. Mood swings can differ from person to person and it is important to notice a change in your behaviour and daily lifestyle.

Isolating from Friends and Family

Whenever we feel upset, we need some time for ourselves alone. Isolating yourself from your family and friends is one of the main traits of mental issues. You don’t want to share your problems with anyone because you might think that people will judge you.

The pandemic has affected the way we communicate and sometimes it has become hard to have in-person or face-to-face interactions with our friends. Being unable to maintain your normal interactions with people outside your immediate ‘bubble’ can lead to feelings of loneliness and isolation, so it is important to find different ways to connect.

Online games, video calls and socially distanced catch ups (where possible) are all good ways to break the monotony and get out of your own headspace.

Extreme Sleeping or Insomnia

Many poor sleepers have developed poor sleep habits like insomnia. Insomnia is a sleep disorder in which people are unable to fall asleep or stay asleep. And when you are not getting enough sleep, this can be the most common cause of excessive sleepiness.

These can be one of the initial symptoms of having a mental illness. It is not good for your health so you need to understand why you are having these sleep disorders. Some people may have due to genetics, age factor or another is mental illness.

Fatigue and Tiredness

After some time, you feel that you don’t want to work, or even do your daily chores. You feel extremely tired and just want to lie on your bed all the time, and your thinking ability gets largely affected because your mind feels exhausted.

If you know someone who is feeling lazy and tired even doing the simplest activity then you should talk to them. Or even if you are the one, you don’t need to overthink about it and talk to someone.

Losing interest in things you once loved

Feeling loss of interest make it harder to do the things you need to do each day. This can leave you feeling exhausted, disinterested, and unmotivated. When people feel mentally exhausted, they develop self-doubt for themselves. You start to lose interest in doing things and feel that you don’t have the energy to continue your hobbies such as dancing, painting, music, and many more.

This is the point where self-doubt begins. You have to be cautious and stop imagining the judgement comments on your talent.

Negative and Suicidal Thoughts

One of the major traits of mental ill-health is continuously having negative thoughts about yourself. People constantly fear facing the world and start to think that they don’t have any value. This problem develops slowly and gradually with time and it can go to sever extent where they begin to have suicidal thoughts.

Suicide has devastating impacts on families, friends and communities. According to Department of Health, 3,000 Australians end their own lives each year.
